Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard continues to be linked with a sensational appointment as Rangers manager this week, with latest reports suggesting he would make Gary McAllister his number two at Ibrox.
Given he has never managed at a senior level before, it would be a bold decision to make him boss of the Light Blues, but it appears it could be set to happen with The Daily Mail saying he could be unveiled as early as next week.
Currently a youth coach at his beloved Liverpool, Gerrard is clearly interested in moving into management but is the Rangers job too soon and too big for him at this stage of his career?
He was a player who demonstrated immense leadership at the Reds, but how easily would that transfer to a fractured dressing room at Ibrox?
Rangers supporters aren’t especially keen on the potential appointment, with many believing they need a man of experience to help bridge the gap to Celtic next season.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Do I think Gerrard is the right choice? No. Is the board taking ANOTHER gamble? Yes. If he gets the job I’ll support him 100%, what else can you do ?⚪️?

Shows how desperate the board is. Can’t even get an established manager. Hope its not another risk too far ?

Making a mockery of this club. Getting behind all these managers and players and made to look like mugs.

We've had 2 experiments in Pedro + Murty, I do not want a 3rd one.

Still not acceptable from our board though, how much longer do we accept their mediocrity? How much longer do we allow this board to use our club like a hobby? Gerrard could be another disastrous move under this regime

I don't want Steven Gerrard, I can't express it enough. Need an experienced manager and the board need to stop risking it constantly and it backfiring and us continually falling further behind. The thought of him and Rodgers all cuddly on the touchline is enough to make ye boak.

Not 100% convinced at Gerrard would make a successful manager at Ibrox. Would be happier getting in someone who has a proven track record of winning but at this stage in our recovery I don’t think we can attract the big names we all want.
