Rangers fans bash Windass performance vs Shkupi

Rangers grabbed a comfortable 2-0 win in their first competitive match under Steven Gerrard, but plenty of fans were less than impressed by the performance of Josh Windass.

The Gers welcomed Macedonian side Shkupi to a sold out Ibrox on Thursday night, kicking the Gerrard reign off with a bang.

It was far from a perfect performance, but there were lots of positives to take from the match.

Jamie Murphy was a constant threat, scoring once and winning the penalty for the second, Glenn Middleton looked superb when he came off the bench, and James Tavernier showed exactly why he is captain with some fantastic runs and balls into the box.

Fans aren’t too happy with Windass though, who has split opinion amongst the support for quite some time.

The 24 year-old has been criticised for not working hard enough in the past, but that certainly wasn’t the case on Thursday, and it was actually his tracking back that set up the counter attack for the first goal.

However, he wasted a seemingly infinite stream of chances and the team got an instant lift when Middleton replaced him 11 minutes from time.

Loads of fans are bashing the ex-Accrington Stanley man, even if a few are sticking up for him. Either way, you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
