Rangers slipped to sixth place in the Scottish Premiership after a 1-0 defeat at Livingston on Sunday, and fans of the club on Twitter bemoaned the lack of creativity in the midfield.
Livingston’s Dolly Menga scored the only goal of the game just after the half-hour mark to put the home side into third in the table and extend their unbeaten league run to six matches under new head coach Gary Holt.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side lacked any cutting edge in the tie though and the result sees them fall below arch rivals Celtic, who picked up a 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday.
Gerrard started Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria, Angers loanee Lassana Coulibaly and 29-year-old Scott Arfield as a midfield trio, but despite dominating possession the Gers were unable to create any clear-cut chances for strikers Alfredo Morelos or Kyle Lafferty.
Check out some of the tweets from Rangers fans disappointed with the performance below.
Still not sure who our midfield 3 are when we have all available. I would normally say Jack, Arfield and Coulibbaly but not sure. I think a fit Dorrans could be needed for creativity.

Today again shows we lack that creative spark in the midfield who will actually take the ball and take responsibility.

I dont think anyone played centre mid today everyone seemed to be either wide or almost at centre back. Anytime we needed to change play it had to go back first

Rangers haven't a clue in midfield today, shockingly bad performance

Crossing the ball into the box with Morelos v 5 defenders lmao. We have no creativity, our wing play is getting found out every game and we don't have the quality in the middle. This season will really be a struggle

Problem with rangers the now is they don’t go and commit players always going back. No shape in the midfield and now a goal down it’ll be even harder to break down the livingston team

Rangers Playmaker ???
Centre of midfield was non existent today . Halliday would have filled that gap better than having 3 wingers on the park .

Rangers need someone in midfield who can take charge of the game, especially when you are a goal behind
