Rangers have become the bookmakers' favourite to sign former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say that the free agent, who left Anfield at the end of last season, is now a 6/4 choice to sign up to Steven Gerrard's project at Ibrox, with the odds being slashed from 16/1.

Sturridge made 19 appearances for the Reds last season but only five of those were starts and he's struggled with injuries for a number of years now.

The fans in the video below had some very strong words for Michel Platini who was detained over alleged corruption this week...

He's not the player that once upon the time demolished opposition teams alongside Luis Suarez, but if a team can get him fit and confident then there is gold there to be mined.

Now 29 years of age, he's certainly not past it and at Scottish Premiership level could produce the goods, if a deal could be struck with the player.

Fans though aren't convinced, believing his wages and injury record makes the whole idea a non-starter and not worth pursuing.
