Rangers fans don’t want Andy Halliday to play at left-back against Celtic

Rangers face Celtic at Parkhead in the final Old Firm derby of the season on Sunday knowing that if they avoid defeat they will stop their arch-rivals winning the Scottish Premiership title, and Gers fans are desperate for Andy Halliday not to start at left-back.

The Scottish Sun has reported that Declan John has broken his hand in training and is set to miss out against Brendan Rodgers’ men, and with Lee Wallace having been suspended by the club it could be Halliday that comes into the starting XI as a makeshift full-back.

The 26-year-old has only played 173 minutes of top flight football since returning from a disastrous loan spell with Gabala during the January transfer window, and he reacted furiously to being taken off before half-time against Celtic in the semi-finals of the SFA Cup just a fortnight ago.

Rangers supporters, who destroyed Halliday on Twitter after that episode, were quick to have their say on the potential of him starting on Sunday via social media, and while one simply said “I fear the worst”, another said “DON’T START HALLIDAY”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
