Rangers fans feeling optimistic about Davis swoop

Rangers completed the loan signings of Umar Sadiq and Lassana Coulibaly this week, and fans are convinced there is one more huge summer swoop on the way.

Towering Roma striker Sadiq travelled to Scotland to complete his medical this week, and the club confirmed the signing on Tuesday evening.

The 21 year-old scored five times in 12 Eredivisie appearances last season while on loan with NAC Breda, and has four goals in six showings for Nigeria’s U23 side.

Steven Gerrard has also secured a loan deal for Angers midfield man Lassana Coulibaly, with the 22 year-old unveiled on a one-year loan deal on Tuesday afternoon.

Coulibaly has over 50 Ligue 1 appearances and has nine caps for Mali, but fans are eyeing up someone with a hell of a lot more caps than that.

The Steven Davis rumours have gone relatively quiet since Sky Sports reported the Gers’ interest back in June, but fans are now getting excited on Twitter about swooping for the 101-cap Northern Ireland captain, who made over 150 league appearances for the club between 2008 and 2012.

They do say there’s no smoke without fire, and there’s an awful lot of smoke on Twitter about the Southampton veteran, rated at £3.6m by Transfermarkt.
