A recent report from the Sunday Post claims AS Roma have taken a keen interest in Borna Barisic following his excellent opening to the campaign.

The report claims the Italian giants are willing to dig deep to secure his services, though Rangers have now opened talks with Barisic over a contract extension.

The Croatia international struggled to make a telling impact at Ibrox last season but he has since put his tepid maiden campaign behind him.

In the current season he has already claimed 13 assists from full-back and been a considerably stronger defensive force, but Charlie Nicholas doesn't seem to be bowled over by his form.

Indeed, writing in his Daily Express column (via Daily Record), the Sky Sports pundit claimed £7m or £8m "wouldn't be a bad return" if the Gers sell up.

Given his progress this season, it was absolutely no surprise to see plenty of the Ibrox faithful fume at the 58-year-old's verdict, with one even suggesting he must be watching a different sport.

A variety of alternative transfer fees were discussed in response to Nicholas' verdict.

Fees ranging from £15m to £25m were put forward and one fan suggested that a fee below £20m would represent daylight robbery.

Clearly, the 27-year-old is a popular figure at the club right now.

Meanwhile, one supporter suggested that Barisic is even better than Kieran Tierney.

If we're going by that logic, the Croatia international should command a fee that dwarfs Nicholas' suggestion.

Finally, this fan claimed that Tierney's transfer has set the benchmark for the price of a top SPFL left-back and concluding by saying Nicholas' valuation would only be enough to secure Barisic's weaker right foot.
