With the Gers' first competitive match coming on Tuesday, just two days later, Steven Gerrard is unlikely to field a strong starting eleven against The U's, but it could be an opportunity for fans to see new signings such as Jake Hastie and Greg Stewart in action.

Rangers' pre-season thus far has been a strictly behind-closed-doors affair, with the club jetting off to a pre-season training camp in Portugal and taking part in training ground matches against Mansfield and TNS.

The new pitch has got fans talking, with many praising how good the surface looks from the time lapse social media video.

It was reported last November that the new hybrid surface would be costing the club as much as £1.5m.
