Rangers fans on Twitter were not happy with their club’s performance as they were knocked out of the Europa League having lost 1-0 away at Rapid Vienna, and much of the discontent was directed at young winger Glenn Middleton.
The Gers were knocked out at the expense of their hosts on the night thanks to an 84th minute winner from Rapid substitute Dejan Ljubicic, despite Rangers being the better team for most of the tie.
Middleton struggled on the left-hand side of midfield, with his lack of end quality clearly frustrating Rangers fans.

In fact, some even compared him to Josh Windass, who left the Glasgow club to join Wigan in the summer having sometimes impressed and sometimes infuriated his own fans on Twitter, having never really fulfilled his potential in Scotland.
18-year-old Middleton impressed at the start of the season, but recently his performances have left many fans questioning whether he can reach the level that Steven Gerrard needs to properly take Rangers to the next level.
Check out some of the best reaction to his most recent performance below.
To me we all like to see our young players play but middleton reminds me so much of windass .

Rangers done well to get to this stage in Europe . Glenn Middleton isn’t good enough.

Garbage. Possession is terrible. Distribution is worse. Coulibaly and Middleton have been poor.

Middleton is a long way away from where Rangers need to be. He’s a League 1 player down here.
Gers are 3 decent players from being a good side. Look blunt at the moment

Middleton looks dangerous at times when he gets the ball, but he’s totally out of the game for far too long. Get Grezda on. #RFC
