Rangers fans on Twitter were not happy with their club's performance as they were knocked out of the Europa League having lost 1-0 away at Rapid Vienna, and much of the discontent was directed at young winger Glenn Middleton.

The Gers were knocked out at the expense of their hosts on the night thanks to an 84th minute winner from Rapid substitute Dejan Ljubicic, despite Rangers being the better team for most of the tie.

Middleton struggled on the left-hand side of midfield, with his lack of end quality clearly frustrating Rangers fans.

In fact, some even compared him to Josh Windass, who left the Glasgow club to join Wigan in the summer having sometimes impressed and sometimes infuriated his own fans on Twitter, having never really fulfilled his potential in Scotland.

18-year-old Middleton impressed at the start of the season, but recently his performances have left many fans questioning whether he can reach the level that Steven Gerrard needs to properly take Rangers to the next level.
