There is a special place in Rangers hearts for any player who manages to score in the Old Firm derby, and Scott Arfield is no exception to the rule.

The 30-year-old midfielder arrived in the penalty area at exactly the right time on Sunday after Jermain Defoe intelligently dummied the ball, and he made no mistake in slotting the ball beyond Scott Bain to double the hosts' advantage.

With the result still fresh in mind, Rangers' official Twitter account paid tribute to Arfield on Tuesday as they confirmed that it's been exactly one year since he signed for the club.

Steven Gerrard brought the midfielder to Ibrox from Burnley last year in a deal which made him the manager's first signing at the club, and it's fair to say that his decision has been vindicated thus far.

Arfield has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in all-competitions this season, while offering versatility and adaptability across a handful of positions.

And it was no surprise to see the Gers faithful gush over the inspired signing in response to the club post, with one fan even suggesting that he should captain the club.

Here's what the Rangers fans have had to say about Arfield on Twitter...
