Rangers may have recorded a morale-boosting victory in the Old Firm derby but Steven Gerrard will be acutely aware of the task lying ahead this summer.
Another recruitment drive is needed to ensure that the Gers continue to challenge Celtic’s supremacy in the SPFL, and rumours regarding potential targets are already beginning to run rife in the media.
And, according to Four Lads Had a Dream, a highly respected Rangers blog, the club have already made a significant step forwards in their bid to add to the squad this summer.
The blog have claimed via their Twitter account that Rangers closed their training ground last Tuesday to allow George Edmundson, a 21-year-old central defender, to be taken on an exclusive tour of the training ground by Andy Scoulding.
The player I am referring to is George Edmundson of Oldham
Highly thought of CB – fits the mould in terms of player we are looking at to develop https://t.co/vyNOQqf1nq

Edmundson currently plys his trade in League Two with Oldham Athletic, where he established himself as a regular at the heart of defence, making 45 appearances and scoring two goals in the process.
The report provoked a mixed response from supporters, with some claiming he fits the bill perfectly and others suggesting that the club went overboard by closing the training ground.
Here’s what a handful of fans had to say about the transfer claim…
Would be a good signing especially since Worrall and MacAuley are leaving.

The gaffer spoke yesterday about adding two CBs. One younger player to develop, whether it was from our academy or from elsewhere, and also a vastly experienced one. The one you mentioned definitely fits the bill to develop

Really smart signing to come in to replace the likes of an outgoing McAuley.

it’s obvious that 2 CH’s will be coming in to provide cover/pressure to Goldson & Katic

That’s a lot of cash for a player from league 2 imo

How is a league 2 player getting the vip treatment ? you made that sound like it was major signing target
