Rangers forward Eduardo Herrera has returned to Mexico with a season long loan to Santos Laguna.
The 29-year-old only moved to the Ibrox last summer for a reported fee of £1.5million but failed to make much of an impression for the Gers.
The striker only managed to score two goals in 24 matches and his last appearance came via the substitutes’ bench in a Scottish Cup game against Ayr United in February.
The 6ft 2in Mexico international signed a three-year deal at Rangers and is now valued at £810,000 on Transfermarkt.
Herrera is the latest victim of Steven Gerrard’s huge squad rebuild which has seen nine players arrive at the club and 11 players exit the Ibrox this summer.
Rangers fans have been reacting on social media to the news that Eduardo Herrera has departed for the coming season, with many delighted that another Pedro Caixinha signing is being moved on by Gerrard.
Thank God Eduardo Herrera has left rangers ??

Eduardo Herrera came to Rangers. Tried his best. Wasn’t good enough. Enjoyed some sight seeing. Left. Best of luck to him I say

Eduardo Herrera. What an absolute disaster of a signing

Herrera is off on loan! He never really had a good run of games but we need someone better. Good luck to him! ?⚪?

Herrera going in loan is better than nothing and hanging around, would have preferred a sale though, now for the others

Shows just how bad some of the signings we’ve made in recent times have been. We only seem to have exits via loans or termination of contract. Farewell Herrera. Another added to list.
