Rangers emerged triumphant from a long, gruelling Europa League qualifying campaign to earn their spot in the group stages.
Steven Gerrard’s side emerged from a tough test against FC Ufa on Thursday, finishing the match with nine men following the dismissals of Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan, but a 2-1 aggregate victory was enough to send them through.
Rangers, still unbeaten under Gerrard, learnt their fate in Friday’s group stage draw after being paired with LaLiga side Villarreal, Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna and Russian titans Spartak Moscow – all of which will provide the Scottish giants with a fierce challenge.
Many fans on social media were quick to share their thoughts on the draw, accepting that the games will be difficult but excited for the challenge that lies ahead – with one fan even confident enough to suggest he will start to look for flights from Glasgow to Baku, the venue for this season’s final.
We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
