Rangers’ bid to finish second in the Scottish Premiership is not entirely in their own hands after they failed to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday night.
The 1-1 draw means that the Light Blues must get a result against Hibernian and hope the Dons slip up in their final match against champions Celtic on Sunday
It wasn’t the best of performances from the in-transition Rangers side, but fans did have lots of praise for one man in particular – goalscorer Ross McCrorie.
The 20-year-old produced an exceptional performance in the middle of the park to remind everyone again that his best position moving forward is likely to be in midfield rather than defence.
Supporters also believe he’s showing the leadership qualities to become the club’s captain, even at such a young age.
With Steven Gerrard about to take charge this summer, fans are pleading with the Liverpool legend to make McCrorie the side’s main man and build a team around him.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Dear Mr Gerrard,
Keep Ross McCrorie, make him captain, play him in midfield.
Do as you please with rest of the team who started.
End of story.

Stevie Wonder could see that McCrorie is a centre mid, looks far more comfortable in there & outstanding again tonight – future Rangers captain if i’ve ever seen one

I would build my team around McCrorie.

Ross McCrorie is going to come on leaps and bounds under Gerrard. Best Rangers player in his first season. Will only get better and better. Future Rangers and Scotland captain.

Advocaat built the team around Ferguson.
Gerrard should build it around McCrorie.
