Rangers fans want Tavernier stripped of captaincy

Loads of Rangers fans have been reacting to Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock, and they think it’s time for someone else to wear the armband.

Rangers fans were fuming after Sunday’s League Cup semi-final defeat, as far too many players just didn’t show up.

Steven Gerrard’s side dominated most of the semi-final, but just lacked that killer instinct.

They had the same problem on Wednesday night, dominating the match after exchanging early goals with Kilmarnock.

Scott Arfield missed an absolute sitter and James Tavernier hit the crossbar, and it’s the latter that is taking all the stick.

The 27 year-old is mostly very popular around Ibrox, but his performances always seem to dip when the team needs him most.

This is the complete opposite of how a captain should behave, and Gerrard’s playing career is a shining example of how captains should lead through their own actions.
