After Jermain Defoe was ruled out for at least the next few weeks with an injury, it has been no surprise to see Rangers look to sign a new striker on deadline day.

Reports earlier in the day had suggested the Ibrox side were keen on taking Burnley forward Matej Vydra away from the Premier League, but that swoop seemingly fell through because Sean Dyche's side couldn't find a replacement in time.

But, having had more than one stoke in the fire, Steven Gerrard will be able to call upon a new forward for the rest of the campaign.

The club confirmed that they have signed Florian Kamberi on loan from fellow Scottish side Hibernian, and after hearing about their new arrival, Rangers fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the deadline day move, with many delighted to see him join.

A couple of fans appeared to suggest that they have always rated Kamberi, and looked forward to seeing him finally shine in a Rangers shirt.

Another couple of fans meanwhile lauded the strength in depth they now have with Kamberi's arrival, with one supporter in particular insisting he is a "different option from Defoe".

So in the end, Rangers have got the striker they so badly wanted.

It may not have been Vydra from Burnley, but it is someone who perhaps quite crucially knows the Scottish top-flight inside out thanks to his experience of playing with Hibernian.

If Kamberi can simply provide a useful back-up to Alfredo Morelos, then Gerrard and the Rangers faithful will no doubt see his loan spell as a successful one.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans react as this player is linked with an exit.
