Ryan Kent has been an interesting case at Rangers this season.
The Ibrox winger had his fair share of controversy when the Gers took on their Old Firm rivals earlier in the season with his celebration but at times, he’s been an inspired piece of business.
Seven goals this season would attest to that. However, despite scoring against Braga on Wednesday, he’s now gone half a dozen league matches without contributing to a single strike – whether that be finding the back of the net himself or picking out an assist.
With that in mind, it’s probably unsurprising that Steven Gerrard’s men are in the race to sign a further player capable of playing out wide.
This week, Football Insider revealed that the Gers were monitoring the situation of West Brom starlet Rayhaan Tulloch.
The teenager is out of contract at the end of the season and could sign for a new club on a free transfer in the summer. Though, talks are ongoing with the Baggies over a new deal for the 19-year-old.
It’s claimed RB Leipzig and Marseille are also interested in landing Tulloch.
The race for his signature doesn’t look as though it’ll be straightforward, although Rangers’ interest can only be bad news for Kent, a player who was berated by fans this week.
The former Liverpool man has been struggling of late, witnessing a reduction in creativity. Per FBRef, in his last five matches in all competitions (prior to Braga on Wednesday evening) he’d managed ten crosses.
In the five appearances before that, the 22-year-old had registered as many as 19 crosses.
Thus, the interest in another creative scoring threat should worry Kent. In 19 Premier League 2 matches this season, Tulloch has found the back of the net on nine occasions while also setting up four goals for his teammates.
Five of those goal contributions, per Transfermarkt, have come from the left-wing, an area where Kent has been favoured in 2019/20.
Tulloch may only have four senior outings to his name, but at the age of 19, that is recognition of a player who should be playing at a higher level than youth football.
If the winger arrived during the summer, it would certainly be bad news for someone who has been slammed by supporters in recent weeks.
