As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers transfer target Connor Goldson is said by a former teammate to likely be keen on a move to Ibrox this summer.

What's the story?

Having already made two bids for the Brighton defender already, Rangers are reported to be on the verge of making a third bid for player, after he emerged as one of Steven Gerrard's top transfer targets.

Now a former teammate of the player, former Hibs man James Collins, reckons he would jump at the chance of a move to Ibrox after personally recommending the switch.

As quoted by The Daily Record, Collins said:

A move to Rangers would suit Connor down to the ground. He is still a very good friend of mine and I speak to him often. When the speculation about Rangers began, he asked me about a move to Scotland and I couldn’t recommend the club highly enough.

Connor was also a massive Liverpool fan growing up and Steven Gerrard in particular was one of his heroes. So if someone like Gerrard comes knocking on your door and is desperate to sign you then it will turn your head and you will certainly want to have a look at what is on offer.

He is a Brighton player for now but if the chance comes for Connor to go to Rangers then I am sure he would jump at it.

It's certainly sounds as if he would be up for the move, so can Rangers get the financial aspects of the deal right with Brighton & Hove Albion?

Gerrard's pull

Connor Goldson isn't likely to be the only player this summer enamoured with a move to Glasgow due to Steven Gerrard's status in the game. He was a legendary captain for one of the biggest teams in Europe, which has one of the most passionate fan bases around too.

While much of the recruitment at Rangers has been handled by Mark Allen, there's no doubt that his list of potential targets has opened up due to the new Rangers boss' presence.

Whether they can now capitalise on that with the resources available remains to be seen, but reports like this one, that highlight how much of an attraction Gerrard is, will likely be excellent to hear for fans.
