Rangers could be without Ryan Jack when they take on Hibernian on Friday night, so could this be Lassana Coulibaly’s chance at redemption?

What's the word?

Well, according to Steven Gerrard, Jack could miss the clash at Easter Road, where the Gers will have the chance to move five points behind arch-rivals Celtic.

“Ryan Jack has a knock at the moment and is still sore, he will try and do some training today but I'll have to make a decision after training. I'll give him every chance but I won't take a risk,” the boss said on Thursday.

Ross McCrorie and Steven Davis also appear unlikely to feature, as the pair played in a behind closed doors win over Livingston on Wednesday, as reported by Four Lads Had a Dream and confirmed by Gerrard during his press conference.

While it is not inconceivable that the duo could return in midfield three days later, this could be a final chance for Coulibaly to show he deserves a permanent deal this summer.

When Coulibaly joined on loan from French side Angers last summer, fans were stunned by the tough-tackling 22 year-old.

He made a fantastic start to life in Glasgow, featuring prominently in the Gers’ run through Europa League qualification and scoring three times in all competitions.

The Malian ace has featured just four times since the turn of the year though, with three of those appearances coming from the bench, and his lack of quality on the ball has become a huge concern.

However, in what is bound to be an extremely intense and physical clash at Easter Road under the lights, the young midfielder’s tenacity, physicality and work rate could be just what Gerrard needs in the engine room.

Fans wanted to make his loan move permanent after his bright start to the season, and this may well be his last chance to prove them right.
