The 2019/20 season hasn't really been too kind on the Rossoneri.

Their campaign so far has been a big mixture of everything but good results have only scarcely presented themselves as of late.

For that reason, Milan currently sit in 14th place and are struggling to make any real progress up the Serie A table. The once-dominant force in Europe has been mostly reduced to crumbs of success in modern times.

And even though one transfer on its own would hardly solve all of their problems, you have to start somewhere.

Just recently, Lucas Torreira's representative, Pablo Bentancur, talked to Calciomercato and revealed Milan were one of the clubs that were interested in his player last summer, but they didn't pull the trigger in the end.

And what's particularly interesting in that report is that Bentancur claims Torreira is currently not at ease at Arsenal and feels a bit unsettled and for that reason, they are not discarding an option for him to return to Italy in the near future.

He does, however, emphasise that the Rossoneri never tabled a concrete offer but seeing how they were ready to do so in the summer and the player's stance on a potential exit changing, this could very well be their golden opportunity to get their man.

Looking at their squad, Torreira would fit in quite nicely with only Ismael Bennacer and Lucas Biglia as Milan's natural defensive midfielders and could even represent an improvement in the team.

Of course, the Italians will first have to finally pull the trigger and go for their target this time and not just prowl around, show interest and then back down in the final stretches of the race.

Torreira's agent hasn't revealed any potential destinations for his player but with Italy a certain bet and Milan being heavily linked on numerous occasions, this does seem like one of those transfers bound to happen.

Let's see whether Rossoneri go for him this time.
