According to a new report from Football Insider, AC Milan could line up a shock bid for Nottingham Forest’s 22-year-old ace Matty Cash in an attempt to sign him in the ongoing transfer window.
It seems that the Italian giants have turned their attention to the young player following the injury to their own regular right-back, Davie Calabria, and are in need of some reinforcements.
Football Insider also claim that they are, with that in mind, plotting a late swoop for Cash after being impressed by his recent performances.
Are you a Championship expert? How much did each of these big-money signings cost?
Even though it may be a surprise for a club of Milan’s stature to scout the Championship for possible purchases, the 22-year-old has been one of the best in his position, as the same source explains.
And besides, with the Rossoneri far from a European force they once were, this reported deal suddenly doesn’t sound as shocking as perhaps it is at first glance.
Young Cash has been a huge presence for Nottingham Forest in the ongoing 2019/20 campaign.
The 22-year-player ace has already tallied 29 games across all competitions, even netting two goals and providing four assists in the process.
But more importantly, he’s started 25 out of 27 games in the Championship, which just proves how much of an important piece of the puzzle he is for Sabri Lamouchi and co.
Taking him away could, therefore, prove to be easier said than done but if the Rossoneri can come in with a hefty sum, it may test Forest’s resolve.
From the looks of things, a deal would make for a rather good piece of business.
