According to a recent report from football.london, AC Milan are weighing up a bid to take Serge Aurier from Tottenham Hotspur this month.
The 27-year-old Ivory Coast defender has been a regular in Jose Mourinho’s squad in 2019/20 so far, registering 21 games across all competitions.
But the Serie A giants are one of the clubs that are currently interested in acquiring his services and would be willing to offer around £15m to snatch him away from north London, as football.london note.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
However, as the same source adds, Spurs would be looking for closer to the £25m figure they originally spent to sign the full-back from Paris Saint-Germain.
Still, the possible incorporation of Aurier would give Milan some additional and much-needed competition for their right-back position.
The Rossoneri currently only have two natural right-backs at the club in Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria, but Stefano Pioli could definitely use someone of Aurier’s quality to give them an extra boost.
Aurier offers decent defensive stability with his 3.1 tackles and 1.9 interceptions per game in the ongoing campaign, but is also somewhat of a threat for the opposition going the other way.
Milan’s full-backs have a combined goal contribution of five between them, which shows that Aurier could well be an instant improvement on their current personnel.
Of course, snatching him away from Mourinho and Spurs could be easier said than done as he’s been a regular starter for the Special One so far.
But if the Rossoneri truly manage to seal this deal, it could be a major scoop for them.
