According to an exclusive report from the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan have met with the agent of Tahith Chong and have been offered the services of the young prodigy.
It seems that the 20-year-old winger is tired of waiting for Manchester United’s gesture and is willing to seek his fortune away from England.
Romano also emphasises that his contract is due to expire in the coming summer and that he has already attracted the attention of many other teams.
The big fat United quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Man Utd?
But Italy, and more specifically the Nerazzurri team, looks the most likely destination right now as his agent has offered his services to the Serie A giants.
Needless to say, sealing a deal for such a talented young player would indeed be a big piece of business for the Italian outfit.
Interestingly enough, if Inter truly do get this transfer over the line, it would mean that they would most likely beat Juventus to his signature.
Earlier in the window, Tuttosport reported that the Bianconeri were very keen on snatching the 20-year-old up and bringing him to Turin and The Sun even revealed exclusive details about a reported £35k-a-week contract and a mega signing on bonus that would see the deal through.
But with his agent now meeting with the Nerazzurri, it could indicate that a huge triumph for Antonio Conte is just around the corner.
Chong has played 16 games in the ongoing 2019/20 campaign, scoring seven and assisting five, but five of those games came in the Premier League 2.
At 20 years of age and blessed with bags of potential, it seems Chong could be ready for a proper step up.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the issue back in November, saying that he would love for both Chong and Angel Gomes to stay but that he was essentially powerless to stop them from going, as quoted by Mirror:
“There are players we wanna get signed, of course. And Tahith is a player we think is going to develop. We’ve offered him a very good contract and the ball is in his court.”
If something doesn’t change soon at Old Trafford, they might lose a big talent to Italy.
