According to a new report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Everton's attempts to land Inter Milan's Matias Vecino have hit a bump as the two clubs are yet to settle on a price.

What's the word, then?

Sport Witness explain how this deal seemed to be going rather swimmingly over the weekend and even on Monday, and it looked like Vecino was poised for a switch to the Premier League.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport now claim that despite the constant contact between the clubs and the midfielder even giving his approval to the transfer, some problems have emerged.

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players....

This is because Everton are refusing the meet the €20m (£16.9m) asking price for the player and are currently offering less than what the Nerazzurri are asking for their man.

The same source explains the Toffees are in no hurry to seal the transfer and that is creating a situation of uncertainty at Inter.

Verdict

Even though we still don't know whether this is a result of Everton's negotiation tactics or perhaps a symptom of their lack of interest, this doesn't necessarily have to be bad news for Inter.

Of course, as Sport Witness explain, their main worry is finding a suitable replacement for the player in case he truly ends up leaving the club in January.

The later it gets in the window, the less time they have to dip their toes in the market themselves.

But maybe they shouldn't discard the option of Vecino actually staying at the club. After all, with 17 games already under his belt and two goals and one assist in tow, the 28-year-old seems like a good squad player for Antonio Conte.

The season is long and they might need all the help they can get if they are truly to beat Juventus to that Scudetto.
