According to a fresh report from The Times, Pep Guardiola wants to sign two centre-backs in the summer transfer window and Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar is one of the candidates on Man City's radar.

What's the word, then?

Manchester City's 2019/20 campaign has been a struggle.

Guardiola's men have already fallen 22 points behind league leaders Liverpool and are, at this moment, looking unlikely to retain their crown.

And the biggest problem is seemingly in their backline, as evidenced by the fact they've conceded 29 goals in 25 games.

With that said, the Citizens will likely dip their toes into the market come the summer.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Man City signings...

The Times mention the fact City have scouted Skriniar, Benfica's Ruben Dias and Brighton's Lewis Dunk.

The former has been on their radar for quite some time as this is certainly not the first time the English champions have been linked with him.

With John Stones' future also in doubt, as the same source explains, Guardiola will need new troops to arrive.

Verdict

As we've mentioned before, the 6 ft 1 Nerazzurri star is no stranger to links with an Etihad Stadium switch, but if the Citizens are serious about plugging the holes in their defence, they just might go all out for the centre-back.

Skriniar, who joined the club for €30m (£25.4m) is highly rated and has been lauded by many in the past, with Roberto Baggio among those to sing his praises, so this could be a complicated deal to get over the line.

Still, Antonio Conte will have the biggest task of all and that's somehow convincing the coveted defender to stay put in Italy.

Inter are still in the race for the Scudetto and have added the likes of Christian Eriksen to their ranks just recently.

It does seem like they are once again becoming an attractive destination for top-tier players.

And that could make things complicated for Guardiola.
