According to a recent report from The Independent, Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to re-sign Fernando Llorente from Napoli in the January transfer window.

What's the word, then?

It seems that the recent injury to Harry Kane has prompted Jose Mourinho to dip his toes into the market and find a suitable replacement for his star striker.

But as The Independent notes, the Portuguese manager has requested the signing of two forwards to fill the void left by the Englishman and the whole situation has caused a flood of agents to approach the club with possible signings.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 - how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

One name that is currently on the table is that of Llorente, who made his transfer to Napoli during the summer.

Football agent Riccardo Napolitano has even confirmed that Spurs would be paying 70% of his wages and that the deal is on, as quoted by AreaNapoli:

"Fernando Llorente will return to Tottenham on loan at 70%. Napoli will consequently have to take an attacker in all probability. He will be an important footballer."

Verdict

Even though they just acquired Llorente, it seems that Napoli could already be set to wave goodbye.

As Napolitano has already stated, this might have a big ripple effect on the club as they will most likely have to go into the market themselves to compensate for the 34-year-old's departure.

Llorente has managed to bag four goals and one assist across 21 games played for the club so far.

But with Dries Mertens out injured and the team relying on Arkadiusz Milik, a new striker may very well be a necessity for the Italian outfit.

It remains to be seen, however, if they really decide to go down that route.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan are pushing to get one other deal with Spurs over the line in the January transfer window...
