After impressing at the back end of the season, Daniel Jebbison could expect to have a starring role in Sheffield United’s promotion campaign under Slavisa Jokanovic, someone who former Blades ace Brian Deane expects to get the best out of.
The 17-year-old scored on his Premier League debut as Sheffield United beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park, which begged the question as to why he had not been starting games for the first team earlier.
Sheffield United may look to Jebbison to lead the line for them next season as it would save them having to splash out on both a transfer fee and wages for a Championship proven striker.
During his time at Fulham, Jokanovic was the manager who nurtured Ryan Sessegnon as he finished as the club’s top scorer during their promotion-winning season in 2017/18 at the same age as Jebbison, and that is something that excites Deane as he spoke exclusively to Football FanCast:
“He’s obviously very good with young players and I think for those younger players at the club it’s a good sign that he likes working with young players.
“Jebbison is a centre forward and Sessegnon is a wing-back but it’s always good to make comparisons. I’d like to think that Jokanovic is also developing himself as a manager from his time at Fulham and Watford.”
It could be a good time to lean on the youth players at the club as the Blades have the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Rhian Brewster, Jayden Bogle and Oliver Burke who could all seriously step up in the Championship.
Sheffield United are likely to head into the Championship season as one of the favourites for promotion given their squad, manager and how much the parachute payments now help those clubs that do drop down.
