Sheffield United are interested in a deal to bring Harvey Elliott to Bramall Lane on loan this summer.
That’s according to a report by The Sun on Sunday (via Football League World), who claimed that Slasvisa Jokanovic is keen on securing a reunion with the Liverpool winger, who he managed during his time at Fulham.
The report continues by stating that, should Liverpool sanction the temporary departure of the 18-year-old once again this summer, Sheffield United appear to be at the front of the queue for his signing.
However, The Sheffield Star reported that a Blades move for the England under-19 international could be scuppered if Jurgen Klopp does not manage to bring in a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who left the Merseyside club for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
Considering the sheer amount of raw potential Elliott appears to possess, should Sheffield United manage to secure the services of the forward this summer, he could well prove transformative for Jokanovic’s side.
Indeed, over his 41 Championship appearances while on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season, the £13.5m-rated man was in astonishing form, scoring seven goals, registering 11 assists and creating 14 big chances for his teammates, taking one shot and making 1.7 key passes per game.
These returns saw the man Elliott Bennett dubbed a “special” player earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.10, ranking him as Tony Mowbray’s third-best performer in the second tier of English football.
Furthermore, with Jokanovic currently lacking wingers and attacking midfielders in his Sheffield United squad – both positions in which Elliott can play comfortably – it would very much appear as if the teenager could well solve something of a selection headache for the 52-year-old.
As such, it would appear highly advisable for the Blades to do all they can in order to get a deal over the line for Elliott in the coming weeks, as the Liverpool starlet very much looks to have the ability to help fire the Yorkshire side back to the Premier League next season if he ends up at Bramall Lane.
