Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that he expects Darren Moore to stick with Joe Wildsmith in goal.

Wildsmith has come in for criticism from a section of supporters for his recent showing in Wednesday's 4-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers, with some questioning why Keiren Westwood was not given the nod ahead of him.

It perhaps now gives Moore something to think about going forward, but Palmer believes the 25-year-old should not be dropped on the basis of that one game and expects him to keep his spot between the sticks for the Owls.

When asked whether Moore should drop Wildsmith for Westwood following his display against QPR, Palmer told FFC:

"That would be down to the manager to decide. I know Keiren's a fan favourite and maybe it could lift the fans if they bring him back, but Darren's got a decision to make because he doesn't want to lose the player on the basis of he's made a couple of mistakes in one game.

"I don't think you just make a change for that, people do make mistakes in football. So we'll have to see, we'll have to see."

Whoever starts in goal for Wednesday next faces a difficult challenge. The Owls welcome Swansea City, who are chasing promotion to the Premier League.

It means Wildsmith or Westwood will surely have to be at their best if Moore's side are to beat one of the Championship's best outfits.
