Sheffield Wednesday endured a miserable month in February, winning just one game as they dropped further in the table, with few players impressing fans.

The club has announced Jacob Murphy as their Player of the Month, however, with the Newcastle loanee offering two goal contributions last month, as well as achieving a WhoScored rating of seven in each of his last two games.

It must be stated that he had little competition given the likes of Tom Lees and Joey Pelupessy were heavily criticised during the month, but some fans believe the award was well-deserved nonetheless.

There are some who have made note of the lack of performance from other members of the squad, though, and they will expect more names to be fighting to win the award for March.

The choice to give Murphy the award is a little odd considering he started just four out of seven matches in February, and achieved just 14% pass accuracy in a substitute appearance against Barnsley.

That means that he too must improve if the Owls are going to turn their form around, with missed chances such as his one-on-one against Birmingham also costing the team points.

Whose Line Is It Anyway: Michael Owen, Garth Crooks or Mark Lawrenson?

Despite that, he is a player who can excite fans with 1.6 dribbles per game, while a contribution of 0.9 key passes per game, per WhoScored, shows he offers a threat at times in the final third, though one fan is still concerned that he has been rewarded given his level of performance.

In other news, Wednesday supporters have been discussing another key player after his performance at the weekend, and their comments should be of interest to their fellow fans...
