A number of clubs are interested in a move for Sheffield Wednesday centre-forward Jordan Rhodes this summer.

What's the talk?

That's according to Football League World, who revealed that both Championship side Huddersfield Town and League One strugglers Ipswich Town are considering a move for the 31-year-old, whose contract at Hillsborough expires this summer.

FLW report that Huddersfield are the side leading the race for Rhodes, however, it is also suggested that the forward could be tempted by a move back to Portman Road, where the £35,000-per-week striker started his career.

Owls must close door on Rhodes

Having signed for Wednesday from Middlesbrough in what was a whopping £10 million deal back in 2017, it would be fair to say that Rhodes has not quite lived up to his price tag.

Despite having made 110 appearances for the Owls, the 31-year-old has just 20 goals to his name, each of which has cost the club around £500,000 - a figure that doesn't take into account his hefty weekly wage.

However, despite the fact that Darren Moore's side have had a rather disastrous campaign in the Championship, Rhodes has, somewhat strangely, actually enjoyed his most prolific form for the club, bagging seven goals over his 34 league appearances this season.

Although, this recent form should not result in Moore being tempted to offer the striker a new deal this summer, as the former Blackburn Rovers man has proven over the last three years that he is not compatible with the club whatsoever, with Carlton Palmer stating his belief earlier this season that Rhodes "needs to go" this summer.

As such, with Dom Howson recently claiming that all contract talks at Hillsborough are being put on hold until the end of the season, if there is one player in the Wednesday squad who Moore must ensure that he instructs to pack their bags this summer, it has surely got to be Rhodes.
