Glasgow Rangers chief Ross Wilson was a busy man during the summer transfer window as he brought in a number of players to improve the squad at Ibrox.

The Light Blues' sporting director signed Ridvan Yilmaz, John Souttar, Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies, Malik Tillman, and Tom Lawrence, whilst he also handed new contracts to the likes of Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield, and Steven Davis.

Rangers have gone through a slight changing of the guard, and that could continue next summer as first-team stars Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are both set to be out of contract.

The pair have been long-serving members of the team and were both pivotal to the fantastic title-winning campaign under Steven Gerrard in 2020/21.

Kent racked up 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 Premiership outings from out wide that season, whilst Morelos plundered 12 goals and five assists in 29 appearances.

The dynamic duo terrorised opposition defences on a weekly basis as Rangers romped to the title ahead of Celtic, but the Light Blues could soon be in the market to replace both of them next summer as their contracts expire.

However, instead of using a transfer window to splash out millions of pounds on replacements, Gio van Bronckhorst could dip into the academy ranks to unearth a new attacking pairing for the Light Blues.

Arron Lyall and Zak Lovelace are both catching the eye in Rangers' academy setup this season and could be the heirs to Kent and Morelos in the first team if they are able to make the step up to senior level.

The latter joined from Millwall in the summer and has enjoyed a strong start to life in Glasgow. He has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 14 games for the B team and racked up three assists in four UEFA Youth League matches for the under-19's so far.

Meanwhile, Lyall has produced seven goals and two assists in 12 outings at youth level this season. The prodigious gem has also scored once in four caps for Scotland at under-16 level, which shows that his form has previously been recognised by his country.

Both players have been dubbed "exciting" talents, by Neil McCann and Craig Mulholland respectively, and both have the potential to step up into the first-team, given their form for the academy this season.

Lovelace (16) and Lyall (19) could develop into being the club's new dynamic duo in the future - in place of Kent and Morelos - but it will be over to Van Bronckhorst to hand them the opportunities to shine for Rangers in the weeks, months and years to come.
