Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet is back training on grass amid his "unusual injury".
What’s the word?
After arriving from Burnley in the last transfer window, the winger has been able to make a huge impact at his new club due to an ongoing fitness issue.
Indeed, he last played for the Hammers back in October and has yet to feature for the club since that Premier League game against Wolves in the earlier stages of the season.
This will no doubt be a big concern for David Moyes and there has been talk that this could force the Irons into the transfer market to find a replacement.
However, in an update now shared on The West Ham Way patreon, Ex has shared some positive news on the situation with Cornet's return edging closer – although uncertainty still lingers over the player.
He explained: "We have received an update on the current injury status of winger Maxwel Cornet.
Good news?
Cornet is yet to truly shine in a West Ham shirt – after just five Premier League appearances he has averaged a reasonable SoaScore rating of 6.58 per game – but with nine goals for Burnley last term, big things will be expected of him in the second half of the season if he can get himself truly fit.
Unfortunately, amid this reporting of such an "unusual injury" that feels like a big if. And with new transfer Danny Ings also set for a spell out injured, Moyes may push for a new attacking signing before the window January shuts.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Italy international and Roma wantaway Nicolo Zaniolo has been targetted by the Hammers this month and so perhaps he will come in regardless of Cornet's fitness.
