Arsenal are pursuing both Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk in the January transfer window, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

What's the word?

Mikel Arteta's pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk has been well publicised, with two bids rejected so far for the Ukrainian, and his interest in Joao Felix has gained speed since Gabriel Jesus picked up a long-term injury.

There would be some surprise if Arsenal recruit both, given the form of Eddie Nketiah as the stand-in centre forward, but Sheth has claimed that the club are aiming to sign the pair.

Speaking on the Stretford Paddock, Sheth revealed that the club are actively trying to sign the pair as they look to give themselves a boost in their title challenge, with the Gunners top of the Premier League.

"The information that I'm getting from sources in Portugal is that Arsenal are pursuing the Joao Felix deal," he stated.

"They're trying to get Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk as well."

A negotiation tactic?

Arsenal's tough negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk may be the driving factor behind the pursuit of Felix.

Shakhtar have remained adamant that they will not drop below his asking price, and the deal could be a tough one to complete.

With this in mind, Arsenal may be targeting Felix as a potential alternative, or as a tactic to convince Shakhtar to lower their price for the winger.

If both do arrive, Arsenal will be in great shape for the second half of the season, with a Europa League run to contend with as well, and these two signings can help propel them to a first league title since 2004.

Given the form of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, neither signing would be a guaranteed starter, but the quality available to Arteta on the bench would be level-raising.
