Manchester United summer signing Antony has been criticised by presenter and reporter Gaz Drinkwater following a slow start to life at the club.

What's the word?

The winger joined from Ajax in a massive £86m deal, but has scored just three league goals since his arrival and has been criticised for his style of play.

United travel to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to face league leaders Arsenal, and it has now been questioned whether the Brazilian would suit a game against such a tough opponent.

Although he scored on his debut in the reverse fixture, Drinkwater claimed that he may be too slow to help counter-attack against the Gunners.

Speaking on the Stretford Paddock podcast, Drinkwater criticised his speed on the ball.

"In terms of Antony, I just think he's too slow. And this is a really weird thing to say about a player who's as rapid as Antony is, but he's slow on the ball, he slows Man United down. He gets the ball, everyone knows what he's going to try and do - he's going to cut back onto that left foot; he's going to go backwards.

"When you're playing against teams who maybe are a bit more of a low block, which Arsenal are not going to be, Antony is probably the right man to go for, but I think if you're trying to get in behind the team, you play Garnacho. I'm not yet convinced about Antony."

Time to adapt

The 22-year-old has had a relatively slow start to life in England, but has shown his talent in flashes, and perhaps needs time to adapt a little more to his new surroundings having not scored since netting in each of his first three league games.

He will likely start against Arsenal given the lack of other options in his position if Marcus Rashford plays as a central striker, and given that he scored in the previous game against the Gunners, he will be backing himself to get onto the scoresheet.

United have been in good form with Antony in the lineup and have only lost once this season when he has played - against Real Sociedad in the Europa League - so it may only be a matter of time before he finds some consistency.
