Glasgow Rangers return to action in the Premiership this evening as they attempt to bounce back from their disappointing 2-1 defeat to St. Johnstone at the weekend.

The Light Blues are now seven points off the top of the table and are lagging behind their Old Firm rivals in the title race, after dropping points in four matches so far this season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is reportedly safe for now but that could change if the last two matches before the World Cup break do not end well for the Dutchman.

The Gers host Hearts at Ibrox tonight and the home crowd could become restless if they do not see an improved performance and result from the loss to St. Johnstone.

One change the head coach must make in order to get the fans back on side is to unleash Alfredo Morelos from the start up alongside Antonio Colak.

Fashion Sakala, who has since been ruled out for tonight's game through injury, started out wide at the weekend and tried to make things happen with his pace and direct running but failed to provide quality in his final action as he fired in eight shots at goal, five of which were off target, without scoring.

Rangers managed a remarkable 29 efforts on goal throughout the match and scored once, through James Tavernier's long-range strike, and this suggests that they are in need of more firepower at the top end of the pitch.

Therefore, Morelos must be brought into the XI to start alongside Colak as the pair are both phenomenal goalscorers on their day and could cause plenty of problems to opposition defenders as a pair.

Speaking to The Athletic about the Colombian, an anonymous former Premiership player said: “He’s kind of dropping deep now and going out wide. That’s a nightmare for defenders because he’s your player that you’re meant to be man-marking but then you’re dragged out of position and you’ve got midfield runners taking his space."

The £33k-per-week gem, who reporter Jordan Campbell once described as "lethal", has scored three goals and assisted one in ten appearances - all as a substitute - in the Premiership this season.

He has proven himself to be a fantastic goalscorer in the competition over the years, with 68 goals in 145 matches, and Colak has enjoyed a superb start to life in the division as he has plundered 11 goals in 13 outings.

Now, imagine both of them starting up alongside each other against Hearts and getting on the end of Tavernier and Borna Barisic's deliveries into the box. It is an exciting prospect, given their respective goalscoring records, and van Bronckhorst must now make it a reality tonight.
