Everton are searching for their next manager after sacking Frank Lampard on Monday and now a reliable source has made an interesting claim on the progress being made at Goodison Park.

What's the latest?

Former Everton communications director and news editor Alan Myers has dropped an update on the timeframe in which Everton are working to appoint their next manager this week.

Myers responded to a concerned supporter on Twitter: "I’m pretty certain there will be one by Friday at the latest."

That should fill supporters with optimism amid reports that Marcelo Bielsa is interested in the role, but has large concerns over the playing squad.

Moshiri could strike gold

It is no secret that Farhad Moshiri has a fractured relationship with the Goodison Park faithful, however, if he could land a manager this week that can come in and make an instant positive impact on the squad's performances, he could finally strike gold.

It's very rare that many are afforded an opportunity to say that phrase in response to Moshiri's dealings but a quick hire certainly gives the club the best possible chance of staying in the division.

The Merseyside outfit don't have a game this weekend and thus, if they can get a manager in before the week is up, it gives them a whole week to prepare, fine-tune and improve the squad ahead of the hardest match in the Premier League this term; a meeting with Arsenal.

The Toffees currently sit 19th in the top-flight table after 20 outings, collecting only 15 points from a possible 60 with Lampard ultimately losing his job when the final nail in the coffin was hammered home at the London Stadium where his team lost 2-0 to relegation competitors West Ham United.

Despite the former Chelsea boss only having his departure confirmed on Monday evening, Everton have already been linked with a number of Premier League-proven managers over the last 48 hours.

Whilst former Leeds United manager Bielsa takes centre stage as the most likely candidate, it is reported that both Sean Dyche and recently sacked Ralph Hasenhuttl are also potential options for the struggling side.

Everton look like they are on a downward spiral as the bad news continues to come in thick and fast with Tottenham Hotspur now in prime position to hijack the Merseysiders' signing of Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, whilst Anthony Gordon is also looking set for an exit with Newcastle United swooping in for the boyhood Evertonian.

Therefore, appointing a new boss as soon as possible will be vital in Everton's efforts to provide a stable setting for potential new signings. After all, it could well be the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation that led to a late change of heart from prospective signing, Danjuma.

A quick appointment could well be game-changing in the transfer window too then, with improvements certainly needed, particularly to their attacking threat if Gordon is to leave this week.

With that being said, the future at Goodison Park is looking extremely vulnerable for whoever succeeds Lampard, but the sooner a manager can be appointed the sooner the club can focus on retaining its Premier League status, an eventuality worth its weight in gold for a club already struggling financially.

The potential cash involved in staying in the division is not just huge for the club, but also for Moshiri who would no doubt strike oil.
