Liverpool will face Ajax in Amsterdam this evening in their penultimate game of the Champions League group stage, and Jurgen Klopp will surely be hoping that the nightmare performance in the Premier League last weekend can be left behind.

The Reds suffered a humiliating 1-0 defeat at The City Ground against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and the manager will surely shake up his team for the clash in Europe after the poor performance.

In terms of injuries, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Arthur Melo remain the long-term absentees, whilst Thiago Alcantara was unseen in team training yesterday following an ear infection that kept him out of the matchday squad last weekend.

Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, and Darwin Nunez could all be potentially in contention to start after featuring in training, but there is no guarantee that any of them will be in contention to start at the Johan Cruijff ArenA tonight.

With all considered, this is how we at Football FanCast expect Liverpool to line up against Ajax...

We expect to see three changes made to the team that lost to Forest in the Premier League, with Klopp opting for his new formation of 4-4-2.

The first change we predict is Trent Alexander-Arnold reprising his right-back role in the starting line-up, replacing James Milner, to complete an otherwise unchanged back four of Joe Gomez, Virgil Van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

Although Milner will lose his place at right-back we expect to see him moved into midfield alongside Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, as well as our second change to the starting eleven - which will see Jordan Henderson come back into the side.

The 32-year-old midfielder who was hailed "exceptional" by the Liverpool boss is a trusted and reliable player who has recently been performing much better than his fellow teammate Fabinho, so we expect to see the Sunderland-born skipper return to the team sheet.

The third and final change we expect to see is new signing Fabio Carvalho dropped to the bench following his horrendous performance against Forest at the weekend.

Carvalho completed just nine accurate passes, lost possession of the ball every 2.5 touches and failed to make a single key pass or dribble attempt over his 62-minute performance, earning him the lowest rating on the entire pitch - 6.0 - on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see just how Liverpool get on in their Champions League clash with Ajax and whether they can show their resilience in the prestigious European competition or continue to display their inconsistencies.
