Leeds United may have just been handed a potential boost in their believed interest in the midfielder Azzedine Ounahi this month.

What's the latest?

There have been reports that have suggested the Whites are one of the sides who are currently looking at the Moroccan midfielder as a potential target in this month's transfer window.

However, there is believed interest from some of the biggest clubs from across Europe with the likes of Napoli said to have shown their admiration for the 22-year-old.

And even the French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, have been credited with an interest in the midfielder on the back of his displays in the Qatar World Cup.

But speaking on the House of Champions YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has ruled out a potential move from PSG this month for the 22-year-old:

(15:40) "What I can guarantee, from what I told, is that Ounahi will not go to PSG - 100%. I'm told that PSG are not going to invest on this kind of player."

"I think there is a chance for him to move to a different league because Leeds are interested. This is true. Let's see how the conversations will go with Angers."

Boost for Leeds

Romano's comments will surely come as a boost for Leeds if they hold a serious interest in landing Ounahi this month given the calibre of some of the sides reportedly in for the Moroccan.

Had PSG been serious about making a move for the midfielder this month then it would have been difficult to imagine the Yorkshire side holding much of a chance at being able to secure his signature.

However, now it is believed the Ligue 1 champions will not be taking their admiration for the player any further, it will likely provide Leeds with an improved chance at landing the player.

There will still be fierce competition for the midfielder with the likes of the current Serie A leaders, Napoli, believed to be interested in signing him.

However, the potential lure of a Premier League move may help Victor Orta's chances as well as reportedly showing their keen interest in the player already.

It has been reported that Leeds have already submitted a bid in the region of £22m to Angers for the midfielder, but there is a slight issue.

The report from France suggests Leeds would not be Ounahi's first choice of potential landing spots this month.

So that does Leeds with a decision to make. Do they hold out and hope to convince the player, or do they drop their interest with the player setting his sights on other opportunities?
