Aston Villa continued their fine start to life under Unai Emery's management last Friday as they beat Leeds United 2-1 in the Premier League.

The Villans are 11th in the table and three points off the top half, with Chelsea on 28 points, as it stands and they may look to push into the top ten in the second half of the campaign.

Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham are all above Villa in the table and are showing that you do not need to be one of the biggest clubs in the country to compete towards the top end of the division.

The Bees, under Thomas Frank's management, are eighth in the Premier League and their exciting attack has been a big part of their success this term.

Whilst eyes may fall on prolific centre-forward Ivan Toney, winger Bryan Mbuemo has been a fantastic player for the club since their promotion in 2021.

The Cameroon international, who is a left-footed right-sided attacker, has plundered eight goals and eight assists in the top flight since the start of last season.

Mbuemo has proven that he can chip in with goals and assists for his side from a wide position and Villa boss Emery can now land his own version of the attacker by reuniting with Nicolas Jackson this month.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently told GIVEMESPORT: “One contact told me that maybe Aston Villa would be interested as well. You can see the sense in that simply because Emery managed him at Villarreal. Would he want to be reunited with him again at Villa Park?”

This suggests that the gem, who would cost £30m, could be on his way to the club before the window slams shut if Emery and Johan Lange decide to act on their interest in him.

The Villarreal winger is statistically similar in style to Mbuemo, as per FBref, as they are both in the top 25% of players in their position in Europe's top five leagues for dribbles completed, assists, and interceptions per 90.

This suggests that Jackson, who can play out wide or through the middle like the Brentford dynamo, offers similar qualities on the pitch, in terms of being a winger with the ability to take players on, set up chances for his teammates, and track back to help out his defence.

The Senegal international, who was once lauded as "exciting" by journalist Josh Bunting, also showcased his quality in the final third last season as he registered seven goals and eight assists in 27 matches for Villarreal's B team.

Therefore, the 21-year-old has the potential to be Emery's own Mbuemo, as the magician could arrive as a player with the scope to deliver goals and assists, whilst being enjoyable to watch and a workhorse defensively, in the Premier League if he is able to adapt to English football.
