Recent reports have linked West Ham with PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare and the Ivorian could be a big upgrade on Tomas Soucek should he arrive at the London Stadium in January.

90min suggest that David Moyes' side are exploring central midfield options ahead the winter transfer window and have been attracted by two options in the Eredivisie, namely Sangare and Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.

It is no surprise that the PSV star is attracting so much interest as he continues to impress in Rudd van Nistelrooy's side, with a superb performance against Arsenal in midweek only likely to increase his standing further.

The 24-year-old earned a 7/10 rating from WhoScored for his performance against Mikel Arteta's outfit, as the Eredivisie giants earned a 2-0 win to secure progression from Europa League Group A.

Sangare has averaged an incredible 7.33 rating for his performances in Europe this season, as well as a superb 7.25 rating for his domestic displays, both of which are significantly better than anyone in West Ham's squad so far this campaign - with Declan Rice his closest competitor on a 7.06 average rating.

Former PSV boss Aad de Mos was full of praise of Sangare last season amid links to the Premier League, saying:

“He is extraordinary. This season, he has been the king of PSV. You miss Sangare when he’s not playing. He isn’t just suitable for Leicester, he can easily keep up at an even higher club. He can easily play at Tottenham and certainly at Arsenal.”

Soucek is a man under pressure to keep his place in Moyes' first team after some disappointing performances this season, which have returned just one goal and one assist thus far.

FBref ranks the Czech midfielder below the 25th percentile in terms of passes attempted, progressive passes and dribbles completed, whereas Sangare ranks above the 80th percentile in all of those areas when compared to other midfielders.

The Ivory Coast international also scores in the 97th percentile for tackles and the 99th for interceptions, which emphasises just how good he is from a defensive perspective.

Therefore, GSB should definitely look to bring the PSV star to the London Stadium in January as he would be a much better partner for Rice in midfield.
