Aston Villa face Manchester United for the second time in a week on Thursday evening as they travel to Old Trafford for their Carabao Cup third-round fixture.

The Villans marked Unai Emery's first game in charge of the club with an impressive 3-1 victory at the weekend, and the Spaniard will be looking to continue that momentum with another win against the Red Devils.

Steven Gerrard opted for a strong team in the second round when Villa coasted past Bolton Wanderers away from home but with an important game against Brighton to come on Sunday, Emery may be tempted to rest a few key players at Old Trafford.

Here is how Football FanCast expects the new Villa boss to line his side up on Thursday evening, with eight changes from the team that started against United last time out.

4-2-2-2 (no wingers) - Olsen, Young, Bednarek, Mings, Augustinsson, Kamara, McGinn, Ramsey, Buendia, Ings, Archer.

Robin Olsen looks likely to start in place of Emiliano Martinez, as managers often rotate their goalkeepers for cup ties such as these.

There are three changes in defence, with only Tyrone Mings keeping his place from the weekend after an impressive display from the English centre-back.

Ashley Young comes in for Matty Cash to feature against his old side, while Ludwig Augustinsson also makes a rare start at left-back in place of Lucas Digne.

Loanee Jan Bednarek comes into the side in place of Ezri Konsa, who is rested, to complete a much-changed back four.

There are also two changes in the deeper midfield positions, to allow Emery to assess club captain John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara, with the Frenchman making his return from injury as a substitute at the weekend.

Jacob Ramsey was hugely impressive in the win on Sunday, scoring and assisting, so he keeps his place in attacking midfield, with Emiliano Buendia also retaining his starting spot.

Finally, Emery ditches the "outstanding" - in the words of Dean Smith - Ollie Watkins in favour of Danny Ings at Old Trafford, and he partners the exciting wonderkid Cameron Archer, who makes his first start of the season.
