Glasgow Rangers boss Michael Beale has enjoyed a terrific start to his career in charge of the Scottish giants with four wins out of four in the Premiership.

The English head coach has a 100% record, in competitive matches, with the Light Blues and will be hoping to extend that in the Old Firm clash at Ibrox in the first match of 2023.

However, the former Gers assistant may still want to add to his squad, in spite of the instant success he has had on the pitch, by dipping into the market during the upcoming January transfer window.

One area in which the manager could look to improve his roster is in the striker position. Antonio Colak has been on fire in the top-flight this term, with 11 goals in 14 appearances, but no other centre-forward at the club has managed more than five strikes in the division.

Alfredo Morelos has managed five goals in 16 outings and Fashion Sakala has plundered three strikes in nine matches, whilst Jamaican forward Kemar Roofe has been restricted to just nine minutes of action in the Premiership.

Beale could now bring in another goalscorer to compete at the top end of the pitch in order to add more firepower to his Rangers team in the second half of the campaign.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea youth coach could land his first coup in the transfer market as the club's manager by swooping to sign Blackpool striker Jerry Yates.

Rangers reportedly sent scouts to watch the attacker in action earlier this season and are one of a number of teams monitoring his situation in England.

In November, The Sun reported that the Gers are leading the race for his signature and that the Championship side are set to demand a fee of £5m for his services during the January window.

Beale must now push Ross Wilson to strike a deal for the marksman as bringing Yates to the club would represent his first coup in charge, due to the potential impact the forward could have in the final third for the Ibrox giants.

In the Championship this season, the 26-year-old has plundered nine goals and three assists, whilst creating six 'big chances' for his teammates, in 25 appearances - averaging a Sofascore rating of 6.98.

Yates, who has been described as "immense" and "on fire" by Blackpool journalist Sean McGinlay, has been superb in front of goal for the English outfit and his average rating in the second tier is higher than Morelos, Roofe, and Sakala's respective scores in the Premiership this term.

Therefore, he could be a terrific addition to the Rangers squad as he could be an improvement on the current competition for Colak's place in the team by providing a greater goal threat and performing to a higher standard week-in-week-out, which is why his arrival would be a coup.
