Tottenham Hotspur may be plotting a move to bolster their offensive options shortly, with recent reports suggesting that Atalanta maestro, Ruslan Malinovskyi, is one of those currently on Antonio Conte’s list.

Despite having welcomed eight new faces to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer, one area that has been recently weakened is in attack, following the unfortunate injury to Heung-Min Son that will see him ruled out for the foreseeable future.

As per the Italian publication Il Giorno, the Lilywhites have now identified Malinovskyi as a solution to compete with the wealth of talent they already have in the wide options.

The suggestion seems that Conte is hoping to add more quality in attacking areas, pulling back from a previously held reliance on the goals of Son and Harry Kane.

The Atalanta man has a contract that is due to end this summer, bringing his current £21.3k-per-week deal to an end, which could provide the perfect opportunity for Spurs to swoop in this January.

Malinovskyi spent the summer fighting off advances from the likes of Leicester City and Nottingham Forest in favour of a move to north London and could finally get his way now.

The Ukrainian does have just one goal and one assist so far this season but has previously excelled for the Italian club.

Only last season did he record 17 goal contributions from midfield, boasting statistics that outline him as a continued create presence in more ways than one.

Not only does he rank in the top 12% for total shots, but he also sits in the top 7% for progressive passes. It is his pinpoint accuracy that likely led his boss Gian Piero Gasperini to label him “decisive”.

He would also be coming in to replace a player who has contributed comparatively little so far this campaign, so the pressure on the 29-year-old would be somewhat alleviated.

Son has scored just three goals in the Premier League, but all of them came in one game against the Foxes.

His absence is always felt strongly, but this year is probably when he is at his most expendable.

Now, Conte could turn to his home country to swoop for an attack-minded “animal”, as labelled by journalist Fernando Evangelio.

Malinovskyi’s arrival could offer the perfect cover for both the South Korean and his compatriot Dejan Kulusevski, potentially displacing them in their absences.

It could be a dream deal for all involved, as he finally gets his move to Spurs and the club get a hungry maestro with bags of talent.
