Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar for some time, but there are no indications that a transfer is getting any closer.
In fact, reports are suggesting that the club are prioritising getting rid of some the deadwood in their squad.
According to the Daily Star, Sky Sports recently claimed that talks regarding a deal for the 21-year-old have been put on hold.
It is believed that the club need to deal with the size of their squad first before bringing in any more new faces, and that means offloading some of the fringe players.
The problem with that plan is that the Gunners have just two weeks to sell unwanted stars and negotiate a deal with Monaco, who have already sold three top players to Premier League clubs.
Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy have joined Manchester City, while Tiemoue Bakayoko signed for Chelsea earlier this summer.
Last month, the Sun reported that Lemar was keen to move to Arsenal, but his latest updates on Instagram suggest that he is happy with life in Monaco.
The midfielder posted two pictures of himself enjoying training, and added a couple of emojis to highlight as such.
