Reece Oxford appears to have dropped a hint about possibly returning to West Ham United.

The 18-year-old left the East London club to join Reading on loan in January until the end of the season.

It was a surprise decision considering that the youngster had only recently penned a new long-term contract at West Ham and had already been given glimpses of first-team action.

Oxford made seven Premier League appearances last season, three of which were starts, and he featured twice in the Europa League earlier in the campaign.

Injuries hampered his progress and he was eventually sent out on loan to Championship side Reading, but took time getting into the team as manager Jaap Stam wanted him to reach optimum fitness.

Altogether Oxford has featured twice as a substitute, and those outings came in the Royals’ last two league fixtures.

The defender’s latest Instagram post suggests that he may be on the verge of returning to the London Stadium.

The Hammers only have Jose Fonte and James Collins available for the centre-back positions after Winston Reid picked up an injury last weekend.
