It’s groundhog day for Arsenal fans yet again, as Bayern Munich’s 5-1 victory at the Allianz Arena left the Gunners on the brink of a seventh-consecutive exit from the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage.
Having held the Bavarian giants to a 1-1 draw in the first-half, Arsenal disintegrated following the loss of Laurent Koscielny through injury and a further four goals conceded leaves the Gunners starring down the barrel of more disappointment.
Whilst the loss of Koscielny was a major blow, the situation is nothing new for Arsenal as they’ve found themselves in this position time and time again.
3 – Arsenal have conceded 3+ goals in four of their last six first leg matches in the Last 16 of the Champions League. Classic.

Worryingly for the club, Arsenal have struggled to show any signs of improvement and the fact they’ve conceded three or more goals in four of their last six first-leg matches in the last 16 of the Champions League is a real issue.
Those results have left Arsenal with a mountain to climb in the second-leg of their clashes and the Gunners have, understandably, failed to turn around the deficit from the first-leg.
