Embarrassing stats for Arsenal following Bayern thumping

It was a night to forget for Arsenal following their humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but unfortunately for them, the miserable statistics will not go away.

The worst figure of the bunch is obviously the 5-1 scoreline, which means that they will need a miracle back at the Emirates if they want to progress into the quarter-finals of the tournament.

There was hope for the Gunners when Alexis Sanchez cancelled out Arjen Robben’s opener to claim an away goal in the first half,

However, after Laurent Koscielny left the pitch injured early in the second half, Arsenal crumbled as Robert Lewandowski scored once and Thiago Alcantara scored twice to take a 4-1 lead inside 10 minutes.

Thomas Muller rounded off the impressive win by netting two minutes from time after coming on as a substitute.

The scoreline mirrored the defeat to Bayern in 2015 and it also resulted in a miserable statistic.

As the tweet from Opta shows, the North London outfit have conceded 200 goals in the elite tournament, more than any other English club.

Another humiliating statistic – revealed by Statman Dave –  is that Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly planning to retire at the end of the season, completed more passes than four Arsenal players combined.

Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Kieran Gibbs completed 83 passes combined during the match at the Allianz Arena.
