Manchester United failed to take advantage of two teams above them playing each other this weekend, dropping two massive points against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
A determined defensive performance from the Cherries earned them a point against Jose Mourinho’s side in a matched mired by off the ball incidents involving Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tyrone Mings.
It was Marcos Rojo who got United off to a good start before a Joshua King penalty levelled things up for the visitors. After his altercations with Mings, Ibrahimovic would go on to see a second half penalty saved by the impressive Artur Boruc, who rolled back the years and produced a goalkeeping display worthy of the point.
It’s another indication that although heading in the right direction under Jose Mourinho, United still may be a bit too inconsistent to break into the top four of the English Premier League this season.

United should really be beating some of the teams on the list, especially in front of their own supporters. Dropping points in 7 of their last 11 at Old Trafford is really not good enough if they have eyes on the UEFA Champions League.
