Mustafi’s remarkable record continues

Shkodran Mustafi arrived at Arsenal with little fanfare this summer and his performances haven’t quite caught the headlines. That said, as a defender, the German World Cup winner hasn’t really put a foot wrong in an excellent charge.

Now many months into his debut season in English football, Mustafi is yet to taste defeat in an Arsenal jersey and extended that record today whilst featuring in the Gunners’ stunning 5-0 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup.

22 games unbeaten for any player is an incredible record but perhaps the most telling fact is that he’s been victorious on 16 matches, crafting a solid partnership with Laurent Koscielny and proving to be a difficult nut for attackers to crack.

Bigger tests await in the next month, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich awaiting, but Arsenal’s defence finally looks like a back-line that could provide a solid platform for success- if they remain consistent, which they have with Mustafi in the side.
